Show Review: Tiny Danza at The Rivoli, Saturday, March 22nd, 2014

.

FYE, or for your entertainment, I saw Tiny Danza play at The Rivoli last night and they were great, a real soulful and ballsy rock, pop and hip hop salad tossed-up the right way with live instrumentation and two MC's adding to the great sound and live presence. After being away for a couple of years they didn't show any signs of rust, starting off strong with some great rhymes and a surprisingly good singing voice much like Robin Thicke to offset some of the heavy, hard-hitting and fast-paced flows. After some minor and barely noticeable mic-level issues were resolved they sounded great and rocked the relatively small venue like it was a stadium show by being both accessible and larger than life. The guys were into it and the girls were into it, including a gorgeous Serbian girl who looked like Liv Tyler who I was chatting and dancing with and her two cute Russian friends, so I guess it translates worldwide and a good time was had by all. Oh yeah, The Rivoli staff were very friendly including Dan the bartender, a straight up dude you'd like to get a beer from. While the new long-awaited Tiny Danza record is still yet to be released, their new single "Weapon" is a catchy ditty proclaiming "Love is a weapon" with some tips and warnings and hope and optimism about how it can be used. Check out their stuff and Facebook page and enjoy, thanks for a great show guys! :)
